Oznur Senem, audit manager, has been at Reanda Netherlands for over a year now. It was a year filled with growth and personal development, overcoming the challenges of moving to a new country, adapting to new cultures, and obtaining her CPA certification. And this year, she set her goals to surpass that; with the support of the company.
As a young woman and ambitious professional constantly looking for new opportunities for growth, Oznur is thriving at Reanda. The first year, she had to find a balance between full-time work in a new environment, building relationships with the team and new clients, while also studying for her CPA. “It was certainly challenging,” she says, looking back. “I can’t ignore the effort I put in. But it helped me grow, both personally and professionally.”
The next step
Oznur started her audit career in Turkey, working for KPMG. When she became audit manager, she felt it was time for the next step in her career. And it would take her abroad. “During my university years, I did two exchange programs, working in the United States. I learned that I really enjoyed working in international environments, working with people from different backgrounds, with different perspectives.” She decided on moving to the Netherlands, as it has a very international business landscape with many multinationals headquartered here. Looking for a company that combined opportunities for growth with a supportive working environment, she found Reanda.
“I thought Reanda would be a good fit for me. In reality it was even better,”
Oznur Senem – Audit Manager at Reanda Netherlands.
“When I applied, I thought Reanda would be a good fit for me. It seemed like a place where I could contribute and continue to develop professionally. And when I started here, I learned that it was even better. They provide so many opportunities for your growth. It had the international portfolio I was looking for, they offer different kinds of trainings, and the work environment is very open, you can ask about everything to everyone.”
Multiple perspectives
“What I enjoy most in audit is the combination of technical analysis and teamwork. Audit is a very dynamic profession. All companies are different and you have to understand their processes from multiple perspectives. We collaborate with our clients to better understand their operations and environment. Last year we visited a client in Egypt as part of an international engagement. Experiences like this strengthen not only technical audit quality, but also client relationships.”
And that’s also where teamwork comes in. “You can’t do it alone. You can’t do an engagement with only one person. Everyone has to contribute something, no matter how small it is. Everything makes a difference and adds up to the final product. A high-quality audit is built on collaboration and experience.” While she was looking into Reanda for her application, Oznur found their website. “They explained about the collective wisdom and the company culture. Everyone is collecting knowledge from each other and sharing what they know. It fosters growth.”
To foster growth
Growth opportunities come in many forms at Reanda and one of them is study clubs. As part of the collective wisdom and sharing knowledge, Reanda provides different study groups, whether they focus on specific topics to help colleagues pass their ACCA certificate, or provide regular technical updates for the entire firm to stay up to date on developments in the field.
With regard to continuous growth, Oznur is taking an additional step in the field of business development by connecting clients’ needs with the services that we, as Reanda, can provide. It’s a challenging yet valuable exercise.
“Working as a business professional, I always strive for professional excellence, and for the optimum in every challenge and opportunity.”
Growth and personal development drive Oznur through her career. “Working as a business professional, I always strive for professional excellence, and for the optimum in every challenge and opportunity. To achieve this, I need continuous learning, challenging engagements, and supportive mentorship. I think I have all the support from the company for my growth.”
