Olga Lukashenko, Audit Partner at Reanda Netherlands, recently gave an interview with the NBA – the Dutch Professional Organization of Accountants (Nederlandse Beroepsorganisatie van Accountants). In the feature “Oath of the Week,” she shares her experience of taking the professional oath on Friday, October 25. “Standing there and taking the oath in the Netherlands felt deeply meaningful and symbolic,” she reflects. In this interview, Olga introduces herself, discusses her role, and shares insights into her journey in the profession.
“Becoming an accountant has been a journey of continuous learning and challenges, but also one filled with purpose. Taking the professional oath has deepened my sense of responsibility to the profession and society. In ten years, I aspire to leverage my expertise in ESG and emerging technologies to drive meaningful change in the field while inspiring the next generation of accountants to make a difference.”
How did you decide to become an accountant? Was there a decisive moment?
“The continuously evolving nature of the accountancy profession drew me in. Even twenty years ago, I saw it as both attractive and challenging. The combination of analytical problem-solving, business insight, and the opportunity to support companies in navigating complex financial matters inspired me to pursue this path.”
What was it like for you to take the oath?
“It was an extraordinary and unique experience. As a CPA in Ukraine, I have undergone a rigorous professional journey, but we don’t have a similar oath-taking process. Standing there and taking the oath in the Netherlands felt deeply meaningful and symbolic – a moment that reinforced my commitment to the values of integrity and responsibility. It was both humbling and empowering.”
Where do you work, and what is your role there?
“I work at Reanda Netherlands, an audit firm specializing in international clients across diverse industries. My role involves leading audit engagements and managing teams. With the title of a professional accountant, I aspire to become a signing partner, taking full responsibility for engagements and driving impactful client solutions.”
What makes working there special?
“The workplace is defined by a vibrant multicultural environment where collaboration thrives. The company emphasizes a strong work-life balance and provides ample opportunities for growth and professional development. I am especially inspired by the shared commitment to excellence and innovation.”
Do you have a specialization, or are there specific topics that particulary interest you?
“While I manage a wide range of audit assignments, I am particularly interested in gaining expertise in ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance). Sustainability reporting is becoming increasingly significant, and I am keen to develop the skills and experience needed to audit these reports.”
What is your age?
“I am fourty years old and bring twenty years of professional audit experience to the table.”
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
“In ten years, I envision myself as a signing partner with a wealth of experience in key areas like ESG, IT, and AI. My goal is to contribute to advancing audit practices and support businesses in adapting to emerging challenges. Beyond the technical aspects, I hope to mentor young professionals and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.”
